| DETAILS |
Overview:
The Alaskan Klee Kai was developed in the early 1970s by Linda Spurlin in the state of Alaska. It was the result of a cross between the Alaskan Husky and an undentified dog , which was smaller.
Temperament:
The Alaskan Klee Kai is shy dog that doesn't really like unknown strangers and will often alert their keepers by barking loudly. This dog is considered an average watch dog, and it will usually not attack strangers, mainly because it was bred to be a companion dog.
Care:
This is an average shedding breed that will require regular brushing of its coat. These dogs should not be washed on a regular basis, only when it becomes necessary. Be sure to use a good quality shampoo or soap in order to help avoid possible skin irritations. It's also a good idea to check the dog's ear for buildup of wax, hair, or dirt when grooming or bathing it. The dog's nails should be trimmed in order to ensure that it will not have any discomfort when running or walking.
Training:
It is a good idea to be consistent when attempting to train this particular breed. The training environment should provide a way to help encourage positive behaviors. This dog breed is very smart and also independent.
Eventhough they are compliant, they are not always obedient . It is important early on to socialize these dogs.
Health problems for this breed:
Eventhough these dogs are generally tough, they do have problems sometimes with inherited bleeding disorder. Overall , they are consired a pretty healthy breed.
