DETAILS
In the early history of England, blood sports were very popular with both the working class and royalty. The old English bulldogs were especially developed for such blood sports as fighting bears and bulls, and other dogs. After the blood sports were made illegal, the bulldogs were used for a variety of other purposes. In the United States., they sometimes accompanied settlers across the undiscovered frontiers as hunters, guardians, and at even at times, even as herding dogs. This breed is an all-purpose working dog.

American Bulldogs are social, confident, and active dogs that are very at ease with their families, often having a very strong bond with their care takers. Socialization and early training outside and inside the home is essential for this particular dog breed.
